The control system has at least one control unit for the cover element drivers, and position sensors (5,6) to identify the relative positions of connected cover elements. At least one of these sensors is a non-contact switch. The sensor is preferably arranged near a pivot point (3) of the main column (1) and or the tensioning bracket and/or other cover elements e.g. directly in the hinges.
