The arrangement includes a GPS receiver (2) providing a current position of the vehicle, an association unit (6) for assigning a designation to the position, and a memory unit (4). A calculation unit (12) detects a value for the distance traveled by the vehicle between first and second memory signals, whereby this value is stored in the memory unit, along with the first and second position and the corresponding designations. The arrangement includes a GPS receiver (2), through which a current position of the vehicle is respectively detectable, and an association unit (6), through which the positions of the vehicle determined by the GPS receiver are respectively associated with a designation. A memory unit (4) stores a first and a second position determined by the GPS receiver, along with the associated designation, in response to a first and a second memory signal. A calculation unit (12) detects a value for the distance traveled by the vehicle between the first and second memory signals, whereby this value is stored in the memory unit, along with the first and second position and the corresponding designations.
