Arrangement for processing biometric data, esp. fingerprint data

The arrangement has a sensor (2) for detecting a biometric input signal and a processing unit (1) with a means of processing the signal to generate data identifying an individual person. The processing unit can be connected to a portable identification element which has an evaluation unit so that the reference data associated with a person stored in a semiconducting component (6) in the identification element can be checked for coincidence with the identifying data. The evaluation includes a similarity comparison with which parameter-dependent comparison values are compared with a decision value so that the coincidence between the identifying and reference data can be determined.
