Fitted into a work piece (1), a transponder holds data to control a tooling machine (10,11,14,21,23,24,29). The data is specific to the work piece (1) to be processed. The preprogrammed transponder control data is read by the machine before it starts to run. It is then fed to a controller to adjust the machine to correspond to the tooling to be done and passed to an output device like a monitor or printer. After processing the work piece the transponder is removed.
