Optical transmission characteristics determination method for optical fibre

The method involves intensively-modulating an optical desired signal (NS(t)) on the transmitting side of an optical transmitter. A signal (SS(t)) is prepared and coupled to a transmission element (LW) as a measurement signal (MS(t)).The measurement signal is received, and a respective signal (MS*(t)) is decoupled from the MS(t) producing a signal (Rn(t)) mixed at the receiving side with at least a locally generated demodulation signal (OCI(n),OCQ(n)). The mixed signal indicates a measurement criterion (A) for the transmission characteristics. Preferably, the demodulation signal is mixed in phase and frequency of the signal MS*(t) synchronously and asynchronously.
