<p>The invention concerns a device for separating the constituents of a heterogeneous mixture and its use for separating, in an oil well bottom, a mixture of oil and water. Said device comprises: a separation chamber (106) substantially cylindrical in shape and having an inlet and an outlet, said outlet comprising a ring-shaped orifice coaxial with the separation chamber (106) and whereof the external diameter D1 is smaller than said chamber (106) internal diameter D0, and a central tube (107) coaxial with the separation chamber (106), extending at least from the inlet to the outlet of the separation chamber (106) and provided with a plurality of orifices (109). The invention is characterised in that the central tube (107) has a diameter smaller than the ring-shaped orifice (110) internal diameter D2.
