The invention relates to a method for producing liquid crystalline hydrogels (LSCH), whereby polymer networks having amphiphilic side-groups containing reactive radicals with non-reacted functional groups are uni- or biaxially orientated by means of mechanical stress in a first step. This orientation is fixed in a successive second step by means of linking at least one part of the reactive radicals to the polymer chains. The inventive liquid crystalline hydrogels are suitable as material, for example, for optical components, especially bifocal contact lenses. |
