The press, designed to apply a covering paper (4) to a layer of corrugated paper (2) passing round a fluted roller (12), has a series of identical thrust members, each with a foot (32) having a thrust surface (34) towards the roller. The thrust surface is curved with a radius similar to that of the roller and covers a number of grooves, and each food can be moved between engaged and disengaged positions by an actuator (40). Each thrust element is made in the form of a hinged plate (36) with a foot (32) made from a block of an elastomer material having a smooth and wear-resistant covering layer, and each of the actuators (40) is separately adjustable.
