The brake installation can be subjected to a pressure medium, and a different sort of pressure medium comes into play from that in the trailer braking installation. There is a brake set point transmitter (16,17) provided which when operated by the driver outputs a brake pressure to the brake installation in the vehicle. A brake pressure control device is provided for subjecting the trailer brake installation to a brake pressure that is derived from the operation of the brake set point transmitter. There is at least one sensing device (14,15) provided which outputs a signal representing the operation of the brake set point transmitter. There is a control device provided, especially an electronic one, to which the signal from the sensing device is passed and which according to this signal outputs a control signal to the brake pressure control device. The brake pressure control device outputs an input pressure according to the control signal of the control device and in measured quantities at the trailer brake installation.
