The bullet (1), made from copper or copper alloy and designed so that its tip expands on hitting a target, has a blind axial hole (3) in its tip containing an aluminum alloy insert (4) and an annular groove (6) in its outer surface to facilitate expansion of the tip. The groove is toroid in shape with a chamfered rear edge (8), and its depth is equivalent to about half the thickness of the bullet shell at the base of the axial hole. The insert has a conical rear surface (4b) which interacts with a surface (5) of matching shape inside the axial hole. Variants can use bronze or composition material for the body of the bullet and plastic for the insert.
