Aqueous composition as antioxidant

use of water soluble hydroxamic acids of formula (I) as antioxidants in aqueous compositions. The hydroxamic acid compounds have the formula (I): R<1> = H or alkyl; R<2> = H, alkyl or OH; R<3> = H or alkyl; R<4> = H or alkyl; n = 1-4. Independent claims are included for: (a) colour photographic developer solutions containing (I) as antioxidant; (b) procedure for processing exposed silver halide colour photographic materials using the stages of developing using a colour developer containing (I), bleaching and fixing.
