<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively protect a passenger in an accident and to remove two low explosives by igniting one of two low explosives. SOLUTION: An electric controller starts one of two ignition devices 41, 42 or starts two ignition devcies 41, 42 simultaneously or continuously when necessary, on the basis of the situation of an accident. When the ignition device 41 in an upstream combustion chamber 5 is operated, the generated combustion gas is brought into contact with a low explosive 7 to make the ignition. When the pressure reaches a bursting value of a bursting disc which cuts an edge part of a delay tube located in the upstream combustion chamber 5, an explosive mixture 24 is ignited, and the bursting disc is bursted after almost 50 milliseconds. On this occasion, the gas generated by the combustion of the low explosive 7 is passed through a ventilating hole to exhaust the combustion gas to expand an air bag, before the unused low explosive 8 is ignited by the explosive mixture 24. Further the combustion gas by the low explosive 8 started by using the delay tube is slowly entered into the air bag through the ventilating hole continuously from the partial expansion of the air bag.</p> |
