PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing ink containing a newly developed resin being soluble in alcohol and having low viscosity and good pigment dispersibility and being less injurious to the health of the person who is using it and to the health of the persons who are present in the same room or in the same environment and to provide a writing utensil. SOLUTION: There is provided a pigment ink composition comprising a pigment, a resin and a solvent, wherein the resin used is a mixture of polymers of addition-polymerizable monomers 10-70 wt.% of which is N-alkylacrylamide, and 10-50 wt.% of which is styrene or a styrene derivative, at least 10 wt.% of the solvent used is one having at least one alcoholic hydroxyl group in the molecule and having a boiling point of 150 deg.C or below, and the pigment is used in an amount of 0.5-50 wt.% based on the total ink weight. |
