PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polynucleotide having high identity with a glycogen phosphorylase polypeptide containing a specific amino acid sequence, useful for screening an antibacterial compound and treating and diagnosing a bacteriosis, etc. SOLUTION: This new isolated polynucleotide contains a polynucleotide sequence comprising a polynucleotide having at least 70% identity with a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide containing an amino acid sequence of the formula, a polynucleotide having at least 70% identity with a polynucleotide encoding the same mature polypeptide that expressed by a glycogen phosphorylase gene contained in Streptococcus pneumoniae of a deposited strain, etc., and is useful for screening an antibacterial compound and treating and diagnosing an infection with Streptococcus pneumoniae. This polynucleotide is obtained by the retrieval of chromosome DNA library derived from Streptococcus pneumoniae. |
