PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic fluid seal fixed to a bearing part and exerting a sealing effect at a low cost, in which the sealing member itself has a high sealing property and which excels in the mounting workability. SOLUTION: A magnetic fluid seal is to be interposed between a bearing part 1 and a rotor 2 having a thrust surface, wherein a ferromagnetic substance is included in an elastic material and therefrom a magnetoelastic ring 4 is formed consisting of a fitting mounting part 4a and a body part 4b, and the body part 4b of the ring 4 is magnetized and arranged confronting the thrust surface 21, and the gap between them is filled with a magnetic fluid 3. A strong independent magnetic field is formed as magnetic circuit is arranged in the thrust direction so that a high sealing performance is established, and the resultant seal excels in mounting workability, is advantageous for the molding process, can be mounted and removed easily and effectively, and has a strong fixing and retaining force. |
