PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing the subject compound useful for a medicine or the like which has physiological activities such as a melatonin receptor affinity at an industrially large scale in good yield by performing an asymmetric reduction using a catalytic amount of a ruthenium-optically active phosphine complex. SOLUTION: (A) A compound of formulas I or II R<1> and R<2> are each H, a hydrocarbon group or a heterocyclic group, or form a spiro ring by the connection to each other with adjacent C atom; X is (CH2 )n [(n) is an integer of 1-4], N atom, O atom or S atom; (m) is an integer of 1-3; ring A can have a substituent] or the salt thereof is subjected to an asymmetric hydrogeneration reaction in the presence of (B) a transition metal-optically active phosphine complex to provide the objective optically active substance of a compound of formula III (that is, a compound of formulas IV or V) or the salt thereof in the method for producing the optically active amine derivative. The component B preferably has R-BINAP [R-BINAP is an optical active 2,2'-bis(diphenylphosphino)-1,1'- binaphthyl derivative] as an ligand and ruthenium as a transition metal. |
