PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject new protein having a specific amino acid sequence or a sequence containing a partial variation in the above sequence, capable of activating a low-molecular G protein, participating in the control of cell division and useful e.g. for the clinical application for infection, tumor, etc. SOLUTION: This new protein SPA-1 has an amino acid sequence expressed by the formula or an amino acid sequence corresponding to the amino acid sequence of the formula modified by the depletion or addition of one or more amino acids and/or the substitution with other amino acids. The protein is capable of activating a low-molecular G protein, participates in the control of cell division and is useful as a differentiation controlling agent, an immunoactivating agent, at antiinflammatory agent, etc., and expected to be applicable in the field of clinical medicine in infection immunity, tumor immunity, transplantation immunity, etc. The protein can be produced by screening a cDNA library originating from mRNA prepared from human peripheral blood by conventional method with mouse Spa-1 cDNA, integrating the obtained gene into a vector and expressing the gene by introducing into an insect cell, etc. |
