PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically optimize recording after replacing a recording head. SOLUTION: Head replacement is detected by providing a serial number of a recording head (step S308). Since head characteristic information read out from the recording head (color information, shading information, or the like) is stored when the head is replaced (step S310), recording after the recording head replacement can be optimized automatically without the need of operation by a user. Moreover, since the recovery operation of the head is conducted automatically when the head is replaced, recording after the recording head replacement can easily be optimized without the need of operation by a user. |
