PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for the pH regulation by the addition of such an acid as sulfuric acid at the time of continuously decomposing an org. acid salt-contg. waste liq. by keeping the pH in the treatment in a state higher than the optimum condition, i.e. in an alkaline condition. SOLUTION: The org. acid is continuously decomposed by an aerobe such as Pseudomonas in the waste liq. contg. such an org. acid salt as disodium terephthalate. In this case, the pH is kept in a state higher than the optimum condition, i.e., at pH 7.8-9.5 or more preferably at pH 8.0-9.2. When the waste liq. to be treated contains disodium terephthalate, the waste liq. contains >=0.5%, optimally >=0.8%, sodium terephthalate. The temp. is controlled to 40-55 deg.C, and the retention time is regulated preferably to 2-8 hr. Consequently, a stabilized pH is maintained while keeping the usable decomposition rate even without regulating the pH.
|
