PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high resistance voltage nonlinear resistor having high VS, superior energy absorbing ability and a low VH to VL ratio (flatness rate). SOLUTION: A voltage nonlinear resistor composed mainly of zinc oxide is a voltage nonlinear resistor contg. bismuth oxide, antimony oxide, chromium oxide, nickel oxide, cobalt oxide, manganese oxide, silicon dioxide, aluminum oxide and boron oxide and further, 0.1-0.5 mol.% yttrium oxide is incorporated into the resistor so that a bismuth oxide to yttrium oxide molar ratio becomes 1.5-5 to obtain an objective high resistance voltage nonlinear resistor having 3.5-5 μm average grain diameter of zinc oxide. This resistor is used for an element to obtain an objective lightning rod. |
