PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polynucleotide having high identity to a nucleic acid coding for ileS polypeptide containing a specific amino acid sequence and useful for the screening of antibacterial compound and the treatment, diagnosis, etc., of Chlamidia trachomatis infection. SOLUTION: The new separated polynucleotide is composed of a polynucleotide having an identity of >=70% to a polynucleotide coding for a polypeptide containing the amino acid sequence of the formula, a polynucleotide having an identity of >=70% to a polynucleotide coding for a mature polypeptide the same as the one expressed by an isoleucyl tRNA synthetase (ileS) gene contained in Chlamidia trachomatis strain, etc. The polynucleotide is useful for the screening of antibacterial compound and the treatment, diagnosis, etc., of Chlamidia trachomatis infection. The polynucleotide is produced by probing a library of chromosome DNA originating from Chlamidia trachomatis with a radiolabeled oligonucleotide. |
