PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve specific strength, energy absorptivity, compressive strength, damping characteristic, etc., by providing a closed cell metallic skeleton in a three-dimensionally isotropic close packed state and allowing the cells to contain an isomeric material. SOLUTION: Preferred size of cells is <=5 mm, and more practically, proper size is <=1 mm further <=100μm. In the case of cells having sizes of the order of submicron to micron, equal to those of crystalline grains of a structural steel, etc., no influence is produced on strength even if a part of the cells is broken. One or more kinds among organic substances and inorganic substances can be used as the isomeric material and, when hermetically sealed in the cells, the isometric material is, in most cases, in a state compressed to the atmospheric pressure or above. In this state, the isomeric material can be in the form of solid, liquid, or gas. As to more concrete form, this material is, e.g. a substance causing phase change between solid and gas accoring to changes in temp., a substance causing phase change between solid and liquid at <=300 deg.C according to changes in temp., etc.
