PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a carboxylic acid ester in a high yield giving little by-product(s) and capable of recycling a catalyst used. SOLUTION: The method is provided by using a catalyst which is a compound oxide of titanium and silicon and has a hydrophobic group, in a process where a carboxylic acid ester is produced by the reaction of a carboxylic acid and/or its anhydride with an alcohol, wherein the compound oxide of titanium and silicon is amorphous silica-titania and/or titanosilicate having mesoporous structure or titanosilicate having mesoporous structure giving a peak corresponding to a spacing of 20-80 Å in the powder X-ray diffraction analysis.
