PURPOSE:To obtain irradiation light which has high light power density by using a fiber bundle of coated optical fibers which have clads removed at their projection ends and also have their removed parts coated with metallic films. CONSTITUTION:The fiber bundle of plural coated optical fibers is used as an optical fiber cable 3 and plastic clad fibers (PCF) whose projection ends are machined specially are used as the coated optical fibers. The clads at the projection ends are removed and the removed parts, i.e. the exposed part of the core is plated with gold. Thus, the PCF coated optical fibers 13 have the clads removed at the projection end parts, so the projection end part 12 of the optical fiber cable 3 formed by bundling and coating the coated optical fibers with as shown by 11 is thin and the core occupation rate is extremely high. Consequently, the light leak loss of a reduction optical system is minimized and the irradiation light which has high light power density is obtained. |
