<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert a decoded image into a display-use image data stream (raster scan data) in a simple circuit configuration with reduced access to a frame memory and without increasing the memory bus width. SOLUTION: A macro block is given from an input port 10 to a display image compression circuit 11, and image data received in the unit of macro block are compressed at a prescribed compression rate in the direction of 16 horizontal direction image streams. An I(intra coded) picture, and a P(predictive coded) picture are stored in an I-P picture compression data storage memory circuit 12 and a B(bidirectional predictive decoded) picture is stored in a B picture compression data storage memory circuit 13. The memory circuit 12 is read with a prescribed timing to form raster scan data and the memory circuit 13 is also read with a prescribed timing to form raster scan data, while a display image expansion circuit 14 applies image expansion processing to the compressed I-P picture and B picture to provide an output of the raster scan data.</p> |
