PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform of whether or not the terminal equipment is available for the purpose, to prevent the usage under an improper state, and to enhance convenience by discriminating a communication state based on a criterion, in response to each object such as a conventional conversation and data communication in a ratio telephone set. SOLUTION: In discriminating a communication state, reception of a communication signal sent from a base station 4 is attempted plural number of times for each prescribed time. When the successful frequency of reception meets a criterion, it is discriminated that the communication is available and the result is displayed in a communication system 1. The purpose of use of a portable telephone set 10 is classified into conventional conversation and data communication, and the criterion corresponding to respective purposes of use is set to be tight for data communication to ensure certainty required for data communication and to be relaxed to ensure convenience for conventional conversation. |
