PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle controller capable of storing road information in a memory with a small capacity and capable of reading the road information in a short time. SOLUTION: The road information is stored and held in a ROM 12 at a state of being compressed and divided by every area, only the road information on required areas are released and read in a RAM 13 one by one according to a present position detected from a signal of a present position detecting part 20. And a curve in front of a specified distance is detected based on the unpacked road information and an upper limit value of a gear shift stage is determined from the radius of curvature, etc., of the curve. The gear shift stage is set based on the upper limit value with an electric control circuit unit 40 at a mechanism part 41 of an automatic transmission 41. Since the road information is stored and held at the compressed state, only a small memory capacity is required for storing and holding the road information. In addition, only the required information are read out and released, the information required fro controlling a vehicle is obtained in a short time while traveling. |
