To fit a decoration to a support material, of a rigid thermoplastic, the decoration (1) is placed within the mold for the thermoplastic to be injected against it. The material is injected under the decoration (1) to fill the mold cavity across the decoration. The adjacent panels (3,7) are bonded (6) by a chemical action. The decorative materials are bonded to a decoration (2) in an initial mold to form the decoration (1) section for the main mold. After molding, the decorations are cut and their edges trimmed and finished. The sections (3,7) forming the decoration and the panel are injected separately and in succession on the local decoration (2) and the whole decoration (1), in two phases, with the second phase after the polymerization of the first phase. The decoration is held in place by at least one moving wedge, which is removed to allow a second injection. The mold remains closed during both injection phases, with a moving punch (21) to extend the mold cavity (10) to take the second injection. The decoration (1) round the decorative sections (3) is cut at the edges by blades synchronized with the mold components (21). Before insertion into the mold, the decoration (2) is held by moving frames (7), fitted with needles. |
