PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure the long-term stability of a reflection layer and to enable the long-term use of an optical information medium which has a dyestuff recording layer like that of a CD-R and is formed with a film of silver as the reflection layer. SOLUTION: The optical information medium is successively formed with the dyestuff recording layer 2 consisting of at least dyestuff materials, the reflection layer 3 consisting of metal and a protective layer 4 on a translucent substrate 1. The protective layer 4 consists of successively formed plural resin films 4a, 4b. The reflection layer 3 consists of silver. The dyestuff recording layer 2 which does not contain iodine ions is used or the content of at least the iodine ions included therein is specified to <=1000 ppm by weight. The protective layer 4 contains a material which traps molecules or ions corrode the reflection layer 3. For instance, metallic particulates which are reactive with the molecules or ions having corrosion property for the reflection layer 3, or porous pigments absorbing the molecules or ions having the corrosion property for the reflection layer 3 is incorporated in the protective layer 4. |
