PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a matching system which can make high-accuracy matching with a small data size. SOLUTION: A recognition method includes a process of finding a position at which the degree of match between a found model for coarse recognition and a picture becomes the minimum, and the degree of coincidence by performing matching between a model for fine recognition and the picture near the data which are thinned out at the time of coarse recognition, based on the positional deviation of an object to be detected, when the degree of match is larger than a designated value, a process of discriminating whether or not the degree of match between the model for fine recognition and picture is smaller than the designated value and, when the degree of match is smaller than the designated value, narrowing the thinning-out interval by dividing the thinning-out interval of the mode for coarse recognition by two, and a process of discriminating the picture as the object when the degree of match between the model for fine recognition and picture is larger than the designated value. |
