PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recording medium having higher chemical stability and better reliability and durability than a light reflection layer for which silver is used by constituting the light reflection layer of an optical recording medium having a substrate and the light reflection layer laminated on the substrate of a silver-ruthenium-aluminum ternary alloy. SOLUTION: The silver-ruthenium-aluminum ternary alloy contg. 0.5 to 15 atm.% ruthenium in silver and further contg. 0.1 to 10 atm.% aluminum is used for the light reflection layer 3. The compsn. ratio combining the elements exclusive of the silver in the silver-ruthenium-aluminum ternary alloy is preferably below 12 atm.% in order to obtain higher reflectivity and is more particularly preferably below 6 atm.%. The thickness of the light reflection layer 3 is usually set at 10 to 200 nm. If the thickness is smaller than this range, the higher reflectivity is not obtainable. A remarkable effect does not appear even if the thickness is larger than this range. While the method for forming the light reflection layer 3 is not particularly limited, the easy formation of the homogeneous film is possible and the mass production thereof is easy. |
