PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which eliminates the need for buffer regions disposed heretofore on the peripheries of a bonding resin and allows the formation to a narrower picture frame and a process for producing the same. SOLUTION: A wiring layer 3 is formed on a wiring side substrate 1 and a color filter 4 is formed on a color filter side substrate 2. The wiring side substrate 1 and the color filter side substrate 2 are bonded via the bonding resin 5 while holding a spacing to be injected with liquid crystals therebetween. The liquid crystals 6 are thereafter injected into the spacing, by which the liquid crystal display device is completed. Grooves 7 are formed at the color filter 4 so as to be adjacent to the inner peripheral parts and outer peripheral parts of the bonding resin 5. Even if the bonding resin 5 is partially expanded by the formation of such grooves 7, the bonding resin 5 flows into the gooves 7, by which the protruding of the bonding resin 5 to a display area or to the outer side of a pair of the substrates 1, 2 is prevented. The narrowing of the buffer regions is consequently made possible and the formation of the liquid crystal display device to the narrower picture frame is made possible. |
