PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device for an electrodeless discharge lamp in which electromagnetic field noise generated from an induction coil can be reduced. SOLUTION: A shield cage 3 to form a part of an imaginary cylinder A surrounding an electrodeless discharge lamp 1 is provide, and an induction coil 1b is positioned so that its axis is in parallel with an axis of the imaginary cylinder A. The shield cage 3 is composed of plural pieces of a first conductor 3a which is almost in parallel with the bottom surface of the imaginary cylinder A and forms a part of the side surface of the imaginary cylinder A, and plural pieces of a second conductor 3b which electrically connects the first conductors 3a to another as well as forming a part of the side surface of the imaginary cylinder A. In other words, the shield cage 3 forms a mesh with plural pieces of the first conductor 3a and plural pieces of the second conductor 3b, and on the whole has a cylindrical shape corresponding to the imaginary cylinder A. This shield cage 3 is fixed to an outer enclosure case 2 made of metal.
