PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system that allows the positions and the types of switches and knobs of an apparatus to be visible even in a darkroom, thereby improves its operability and has an advantage in appearance. SOLUTION: This lighting system illuminating the front of an apparatus having at least operating parts 1a comprises illumination transmitting parts 2b formed at both the sides of the front of the apparatus protrusively from there, light sources 5 placed in the apparatus, and light guiding members 3 formed from a transparent material, each having a total reflection surface 3b reflecting incident light from the light source 5 totally and a transmitting surface 3c transmitting the reflected light from the total reflection surface 3b. Then, each of the light guiding members 3 is so arranged and formed inside each of the side surfaces of the apparatus that its transmitting surface 3c faces the illumination transmitting part 2b and hence, the front 1 of the apparatus is illuminated by transmitting the light from the light source 5 from the transmitting surface 3c of the light guiding member 3, and thus, the illumination is carried out from both the side surfaces for the front panel 1 so that the positions and the types of operating parts of the apparatus can be visible. |
