Flow control procedure for digital data

The system controls the flow of digital data from several inputs (4) to several outputs (5) by transmitting the data along a chain of registers (2). The registers have the option to interchange between data routes in several ways so that if there is congestion (6,7) caused by a backlog of data in a particular route the data is automatically switched to a secondary alternative (9).
