The procedure, for the control of the parameters of the turbocharger (5), defines the adjustments of the turbine, according to the load on the engine (1), between an open position, used at tick over, and a closed position, used at full engine load. The geometry of the turbine is adjusted as each predetermined step of the engine load is reached, with the provision that during the changes of gear, the parameters are brought to a transition position, which is predetermined and is independent of the load of the engine.
