PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of focusing even on a position other than an original glass surface. SOLUTION: While changing an optical path length L from an original to a lens carriage 40, an image original mounted at the position to be focused on is read and the degree of focusing is obtained for the respective optical path lengths L. The position of the lens carriage for maximizing the degree of focusing is turned to a focus position. The R1 -R2 line of the original glass surface can be focused on and the R1 '-R2 ' line of the surface separated from the original glass surface for (x)mm can be focused on as well. |
