PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device that uses a single liquid crystal display panel to project a video image to both left and right eyes. SOLUTION: Lamps 21 , 22 are placed to both sides of a video display face of a liquid crystal display panel 1 and turn on and off alternately. When the lamp 21 turns on, the light transmitted through the liquid crystal display panel 1 is reflected in a half mirror 41 , reflected again in a concave mirror 51 and projected to a left eye 71 through the half mirror 41 and a liquid crystal shutter 61 . In this case, since a liquid crystal shutter 61 is closed, the light from the lamp 21 is not projected to a right eye 72 . On the other hand, when the lamp 22 turns on, the light transmitted through the liquid crystal display panel 1 is reflected in a half mirror 42 , reflected again in a concave mirror 52 and projected to the right eye 72 after transmission through the half mirror 42 and the liquid crystal display shutter 62 . At this time, the liquid crystal shutter 61 is closed, so the light from the lamp 22 is not projected to the left eye 71 . |
