摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-weight and highly rigid battery jar which suppresses swelling deformation and secures a battery capacity by providing a first layer containing an aluminum or an aluminum alloy plate and a second layer containing an iron or iron-based alloy plate. SOLUTION: A battery jar 3 has an outside face constituted of an aluminum plate 17 and an inside face constituted of an iron plate 18. A nickel layer 19a is formed in the inside of the iron plate 18 and a nickel layer 19b is formed between the iron plate 18 and the aluminum plate 17. The thicknesses of the aluminum plate 17 and the iron plate 18 are not less than 0.05 mm and not more than 0.6 mm respectively, if they are thinner than 0.05 mm, the production cost is increased and the processing and the handling become difficult, while being thicker than 0.6 mm, it is hard to secure the volume energy density. The thickness of the nickel layers 19a, 19b is not less than 3μm and not more than 5μm. This constitution can reduce the swelling deformation caused of increase in the internal pressure of the wide side face of the battery jar 3 and reduce the weight.
