PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical preamplifier requiring no tunable filter. SOLUTION: This optical preamplifier for an optical receiver comprises a first optical amplifier 10 connected through a wavelength converter 20 for converting the wavelength into the fixed wavelengthλ0 of a filter with the input of an optical filter 30, having a central wavelength matched with the fixed wavelengthλ0 . According to the arrangement, the optical preamplifier can be made independent of wavelengthλ1 of a signal.
