PORTABLE INFORMATION EQUIPMENT WITH OPTICAL COMMUNICATION FUNCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a portable information equipment which allows the optical communication means to be turned alone upward and downward, has an easy and secure optical communication with other equipment, and prevents the visibility of its display screen from being spoiled. SOLUTION: The portable information equipment is equipped with an equipment body 2 having a keyboard 10, a display unit 3 which is supported on the equipment body rotatably between a closure position where it is fallen covering the keyboard and an opening position where it is so raised as to expose the keyboard and has the display screen 19 facing an operator when turned to the opening position, and an infrared-ray communication device 35 arranged on either of the equipment body and display unit. The infrared-ray communication device has an optical communication port 47 exposed to outside the equipment body or display unit and is supported on the equipment body or display unit turnably alone in the vertical direction of the equipment.
