<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance method which prevents the memory effect of a battery and maintains the battery in the best state. SOLUTION: A portable PC user is enabled to easily carry out one cycle of battery charging and discharging sometimes intentionally or on receiving a message sent by the PC. When the AC power source and battery are both ON (state 10), switching to battery driving is performed (state 11) by key operation on the PC. The battery is discharged in battery driving mode and when the rest capacity of the battery becomes small, automatic switching to the state 10 is done to start charging the battery. Even when the unused state of the PC is detected during the battery discharging, the battery continues to be discharged as it is (state 12) and when the rest capacity of the battery becomes small, the power source is automatically turned off (state 13) to start charging the battery.</p> |
