PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption and extend the life of a battery, by determining a variable indicating the time required for shifting an actuator from a current track and a current sector to a target track and a target sector and a variable indicating the time until a target servo sector proceeds from a current servo sector to a radial arc, and then comparing both variables. SOLUTION: A spindle motor 20 rotates a platter 10 around a center axis, and an actuator 30 radially shifts between an inner peripheral surface and an outer peripheral surface of the platter 10. In this case, each of the spindle motor 20 and the actuator 30 is independently controlled. In the case of optimum conditions, since the actuator 30 and a read/write head 35 run on the platter 10 and reach a specified track before reading/writing a target sector, the track follow-up time can be minimized. Thus, actuator shift information and target sector information can be simultaneously analyzed, and sector search can be optimized.
|
