The invention concerns a method for making an organic compound in a liquid medium containing water, which consists in collecting a mixture of reaction products comprising the organic compound, water and by-products; separating at least part of the organic compound from the mixture of reaction products; collecting an effluent containing water and by-products; adding to the effluent an organic solvent and subjecting the mixture containing the effluent and the solvent to a distillation treatment.
