Computer system which intercepts data extracted from a data file before being read by an application program. Wherein dates within the data are shifted by a specified number of years. When data is written from the application program, the data is again intercepted and the dates are reverse shifted by the specified number of years before writing to the data file. Thus data encapsulation is performed. The application processes data fields containing two digit year formats across the century barrier as if all dates fell within the same century. Date shifting is transparent to both data and operating system and solves the year 2000 (y2k) problem. Intended use is on an IBM MVS operating system using MVS Installation Exits for dynamic data interception. A jobname table is used to match data and application. Flags are set in a Task Control Block and the address recorded in the TCBSVCA2 field.
|
