The X-ray apparatus has an X-ray beam source (9) which is fed by an X-ray generator (13). The apparatus also has an X-ray beam receiver (10) and a controller (16). The controller controls the generator (13) such that X-ray pulses are generated with a pulse period, an X-ray energy and a pulse frequency. X-ray images of moving objects can be obtained in cine mode. A predetermined average electric power per unit time to the controller (16) is not exceeded. The X-ray apparatus is preferably a mobile apparatus. Preferably the energy supply source is a household single phase mains terminal with a supply voltage of about 110 to 220 Volt effective value and a peak current of around 10 to 16 Amp effective value.
