The smart card has a plastic body with an IC chip located in a cavity (2). Battery cells (4) in the form of miniaturized thin film electrolytic elements are embedded in the card and are connected to an antenna track (3) and to the IC chip. The batteries are connected in series or parallel to provide the required supply voltage.
