<p>More than one ESTs deduced as a part of a cDNA encoding a protein which is homologous with a membrane-bound steroid binding protein PMBP are found. Based on the sequence data of these ESTs, a consensus sequence is extracted and primers are designed on the basis of this consensus sequence. By using the thus designed primers, the polymerase chain reaction of human genes is effected. As a result, a gene encoding a novel steroid hormone binding protein which is homologous with PMBP is successfully isolated from human being for the first time.</p> |
