Preparation of coarse particle polymer dispersion

Agglomeration of fine particle polymer dispersions by a combination of chemical and pressure agglomeration. Coarse particle polymer dispersions (Pg) are produced by polymerizing a mixture (M) comprising at least one conjugated diene monomer (A) and at least one ethylenically unsaturated comonomer (B), by radical aqueous emulsion polymerization in the presence of an emulsifier (E) and optionally further adjuvants, to form a fine particle dispersion (Pf), and agglomerating the fine particle dispersion (Pf) to a coarse particle polymer dispersion (Pg) by a combination of chemical agglomeration and pressure agglomeration. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) use of coarse particle polymer dispersions (Pg) for the production of latex foams; (b) process for producing latex foams by compounding, foaming and crosslinking dispersions (Pg); and (c) latex foams made from the dispersions (Pg).
