<p>An electromagnetic solenoid includes a housing enclosing an electromagnetic coil assembly (16). An armature (20) is disposed within the electromagnetic coil assembly (16). An end (14) of the housing is provided with an annular groove (64). A nut (68) is selectively received by the groove for varying the magnetic path of the coil assembly (16). Adjustment of the nut (68) thereby sets the solenoid at a predetermined armature activation force accounting for manufacturing tolerance of the solenoid components as well as variations in the electric current supplied to the coil assembly (16).</p> |
